Welcome to Sixth Grade
The students in sixth grade are being prepared for the middle schools. Being punctual, prepared , and polite, are skills enforced daily in our building. We believe in a caring classroom community. This is enforced in daily meetings where we share, play, and plan for the day. We have a rigorous curriculum where we use an interdisciplinary approach to learning. We believe that our class environment drives instruction. Student daily performance is monitored and assessed.
Here at Como we have a diverse community. We believe that parent involvement is very important in helping children succeed and feel successful in school. Weekly parent notes and calls are made to keep parents informed of their child's performance. Parents are also encouraged to come and view their child's work for parent nights at school.

Physics Field Trip
We were so fortunate to get the opportunity to attend the Physics Force Show at the University of Minnesota. The show was held at Northrup Auditorium on the East Bank Campus. We also had the pleasure of sitting in the first 3 rows and our students were included in many of the experiments. Our students were mesmerized by the performance. They had no idea how much our everyday life's activites include physics.

History Day
Students are working on various projects for History Day. Research skills, board display, and presentation is taught extensively for 10 weeks. The theme for this year is Conflict and Compromise. We play the part of a detective and gather information on our topic. We then move into the role of a scholar; we take our information and sort through what is important to prove our point. Finally, students take on the role of a chef. Here, they need to think of a way to present their information be it paper, display board, skit, or a documentary.
