Independent reading
Being located across from the library is a big plus when you want to improve your reading as much as we do. Every day we work on reading as a whole group, in small groups, and individually. Students work to improve their reading comprehension and develop a love of reading at the

same time.

Ms. Johnson is with us two and a half hours a day during literacy block. With her help, students are taught reading in small group with at least weekly individual conferencing. Her expertise in language learning helps all students.

As a class, our special goal

is to improve math skills. Our challenging Everyday Math curriculum is supplemented with fact mastery, problem solving, and test preparation. Students work independently in Accelerated Math to review and polish skills as well as to challenge themselves.

We started our year with a trip to the Missippi and "Big River Journey". That was followed soon by our day at Valley Branch. Recently we have experienced our first of three days at Highpoint Printmaking Center.
