Congratulations to Lute (grade 3) and Nerah (grade 4)! Their designs were chosen as winners of the "Flights of Fancy" poster contest as part of the Flint Hills International Children's Festival, an Ordway Center event. Only one winner is chosen for each grade level from the many pieces of art that are submitted so these two are truly special artists! Their works are on display at the Ordway Center.

Como 6th Graders Learn About Global Warming

Mr. Binn's and Ms. Mylander's 6th grade students have been studying about the effects of Global Warming. In a real application of their persuasive skills, they have written letters to the editor of the St. Paul Pioneer Press (scroll to the bottom of the page). You can read more about the project here.

While we might prefer to keep the Como Planetarium all to ourselves, Mom always said you should share a good thing. Dennis Brinkman has wowed visitors and taught about the stars for years but now the secret is out. You can read an article in the Pioneer Press here.

It's another day of learning for students as they step off the bus at Starbase. But inside the school at the Air National Guard base, it's anything but your normal classroom. You could call it "out-of-this-world." (read more and view the video!)
