Mr. Byers
Band lessons are offered by a certified instrumental music specialist for students in grades four through six. One weekly lesson is scheduled during the school day, and the group meets for a full ensemble rehearsal each week. The Como Elementary Band performs in Winter and Spring concerts, and has performed an annual outdoor concert at the Como Zoo since 1993.
Many research studies have concluded that playing a musical instrument boosts academic achievement, fosters cognitive development, and helps develop good work habits. A limited number school owned instruments are available for students to use for the school year.
