Every year during spring break at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, students give up their vacation and spend the week going somewhere in the country to learn and serve.  For the past eight years, students have come to St. Paul to work with Hmong students.  This happened at Saturn (which became Wellstone) Elementary until last year.  This year Michigan ASB will happen at Como Elementary.

The week is a wonderful experience.  We begin on February 27 with a gym time when the students from Michigan and the students from Como will meet and play together.  Also, it will be a beginning time of teaching Hmong to the Michigan students and teaching English to the Como students.  On Monday and continuing through Friday, Michigan students will be in the two TLC (Transition Language Centers) intermediate classrooms.  After school they will tutor in student's homes (Monday and Tuesday), visit with Senator Mee Moua at the State Capitol (Wednesday), attend a gathering of the Twin Cities U of Michigan Alumni (Thursday) and be the guests at a farewell party put on by the TLC students (Friday).
